Hello there, DinoMan here with a new public release for CBLT! We’ve started to drop hints on where the story is going to take Cobalt and Blaze moving forward, and 0.7’s going to be continuing to build on what we’ve started in 0.6. Including the aftermath of the White Fang robbing the Schnee Dust Company store, as well as Blaze continuing to meet that purple guy with the familiar teeth.

WHAT’S NEW IN CBLT 0.7?!

Week Six 50% Complete – New outfits for Cobalt and Blaze, the aforementioned purple guy and a White Fang robbery. Team CBLT’s had a lot going on, but there’s more stuff in store coming in Week Six. Professor Peach is planning something for the upcoming Forever Fall trip, and she’s going to need a lot of help when it’s time to go. So much help, that not even one team will be able to do so on their own… so it’s time to call in Team MAGI. Nora’s 1st Route Event (Writing+Art) – You can now go on your 1st route event with Nora Valkyrie! …Oh no, you can now go on your 1st route event with Nora Valkyrie. Can this get any more terrifying?

New Bella Trigger Event (Writing) – OH COME ON! But yes, there’s now a new trigger event to help set up Isabella Zareen’s first route event… you better watch your back around her, because she knows Cobalt and Blaze are in an open relationship now.

New Locations! – A couple of new spots have opened up for you to explore across Beacon Academy! The first place you can visit is Nurse Bow’s infirmary, where you can go get a check up from her. …Not that kind of check up! Vony, if you’re reading this, please bonk your friends on the head. But the second place you can go visit are the teacher apartments! Shadow will take Cobalt and Blaze there once to catch up and have lunch together, but if you’ve done Peach’s first route event, you can go visit her on a regular basis as well! …Just remember to bring an overnight bag.

New Backgrounds (Bunnyvoid) – Bunnyvoid continues to create amazing backgrounds for CBLT! She’s done amazing work on both the infirmary and the teacher apartments, and she’s currently working on something truly big for future updates… and also wallet breaking.

New Backgrounds (Temporary) – …Okay, with the release of the two Justice League movies, we got a couple of updated looks for Beacon Academy. So I may have yoinked one of those to serve as the new map placeholder for the school.

In addition, I managed to find a source for a good recreation of half of Beacon’s courtyard, and I’m currently using those as placeholders until we can get a more permanent replacement. Now Beacon looks a lot more… Beacon-y.

New Music Pieces (PlotTwistStudios) – PlotTwist continues to make new music pieces for CBLT! Joining the CBLT Soundtrack this time are pieces such as Calming Petals, During Peacetime, Burning Paths, Gushed Tension, Shootdown Battle, Murky Reflection, Ivory Tower, and Advance Our Day.

Temporary Combat System (Code by Meinos Kaen) – …Okay, so someone said to ignore 2020 Meinos and that we could use some of the JPDE code, if we asked on a case-by-case basis. On the plus side, this means we can implement the original JPDE combat system into the game to add in fights, at least until Arc can get around to writing the proper ones.

In other words, the Emerald Forest Fight, the Ren Fight, the RWBY Fight and the White Fang fight have all been coded into the game.

Fox Alistair (New Character) – I mean… if we’re going to introduce Coco before Volume 2, we might as well do the same for the rest of Team CFVY, right? Fox, the sarcastic, laidback and original tonfa wielder of RWBY is finally getting introduced to the game. Yatsuhashi Daichi (New Character) – The original seven foot tall guy, who also happens to be Velvet’s partner. We’re going to be meeting him for the first time in this update as well, which will mean that you would have met all of Team CFVY by the end of Week 6.

Aureum Pendragon (New Outfit) – Oh hey! Aureum’s got himself a uniform sprite too!

Mina Juhong (New Outfit) – And Mina’s got one too! When you see the work Amaco did for this particular sprite you’ll be going “Me-wow!”

Isabella Zareen (New Outfit) – Wait, she’s had a uniform sprite for ages, so what could she… Checks notes. Ah. A swimsuit sprite. We’re screwed.

ADDRESSING THE PURPLE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

Okay, some of these new characters may look more than a little bit familiar to you. So I’m just going to pre-emptively answer some of the questions you may have.

Is he back? NO. He’s not back, and not on our OC writing or consulting team.

So does he know? Yes, he knows. Back in 2020, he said that they would need to look different from his versions, and we wouldn’t be able to use any of his backstories. And more recently, in 2023, he said that the worst he’d do is take potshots and make fun of us.

What we are using are what we got from consulting with Submergedsiren, the other co-creator of the two characters in question, with only backstories and information that she gave us, and nothing from JPDE. We even consulted with her on the design process, although we had to start from scratch for one of them because we couldn’t get the outfit to fit as closely with her descriptions while also making it different from JPDE.

These should be the only characters in question that are appearing in CBLT. Which means that there’s absolutely no David, Weser, Howard, Thilla, Gemma, or giant flame gods appearing anywhere in CBLT. None of his OCs. Just what we’ve gotten from Submergedsiren, and nothing more.
